The purposes and functions of the Law of God are to restrain evil, to serve as a guide, to show that man cannot keep it, and ultimately, to drive us to Christ. Christ, in sinless perfection, fulfilled the Law, and through him, the believer obediently lives it out.
If Christ was not raised from the dead, then our preaching, faith, and hope are meaningless. Christ's resurrection means everything, and because he was raised, we can boldly stand for him, knowing that life in Christ is not in vain.
God's covenantal love for his people is freely given and is an unmerited, undeserved gift of God. This free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Praise God that life lost in the Garden of Eden is overcome by life gained in Jesus Christ!
