An introduction to the new expository series, These Are Written So That You May Believe: The Gospel of John. The Gospel of John has three major threads that run through it: love, truth, and belief. The purpose of the Gospel is for us to believe the truth about Christ, so that we may enter into a relationship with Him based on love.

God has so richly given us so much, even his own Son, and so we give, not in order to earn something, but out of worship toward Him. This means that our giving ought to be joyful, willing, sacrificial, and generous.

In the turbulent political atmosphere we’re living in, it’s easy to become frustrated and overwhelmed regarding what the Christian’s role ought to be. We must remember that all authority originated with God and is given by God, and the government ought to function as a reflection of God’s own character. It’s continual failure to do this calls us to be bold in proclaiming the gospel to all people.

Regarding the creation ordinance of Sabbath rest, modern Christians tend toward two extremes - legalism or laxity. Both of these are wholly unbiblical and miss the point of this blessed day.
